I finished watching the first season of Dexter a couple of days ago, and I have to say that while I was a bit displeased with a few of the goings on of the show, in all...I loved it. It encompassed everything I love in a great television show. I still need to read the books. I am an true fan of anything dark and gory, but that isn't to say that is my whole life, just 95.5% of it. I love Dexter (of course), Firefly, Bones, Six Feet Under (Just started watching it), Supernatural, Angel, Buffy, Smallville, Stargate SG1, Charmed, and quite a few others. I read a ton of fanfic and although I read het I am a slasher through and through. If anyone wants to post their fanfiction (try and stick to the categories listed above) feel free to do so. Just make sure to appropriately rate it.
